Thoughts that may provoke a different thinking.
Just for today…..think……
Muslim’s aren’t made…. they are in the making.
Allah mightily uses Muslims who stay cool in a hot place, sweet in a sour place and little in a big place.
People have a way of becoming what you encourage them to be, not what you nag them to be.
Other people don’t make you what you are; they only reveal what you are.
Clouds in our lives are sent to bring showers of blessings.
To reach the port of Heaven, we must sail sometimes with the wind, sometimes against it, but we must sail - not drift or lie at anchor.
Sometimes the Lord calms the storm; sometimes He lets the storm rage, and calms His servant.
Patience is accepting a difficult situation from Allah without giving Him a deadline to remove it.
When you pray for guidance, do not complain if it is different from your preference.
Faith is not shelter from difficulties, but belief in the face of all contridiction.
Faith makes the uplook good, the outlook bright, the future glorious - no matter what.
Worry pulls tomorrows clould over todays sunshine. Worry is the sensless process of allowing leftover problems from yesterday distract you today, and clutter up tomorrows opportunities. You can’t trust and worry at the same time.
Enjoy the little things, one day you may look back and realise they were the big things.
The next time Shaytan reminds you of your past - remind him of his future.
It is wonderful what Allah can do with a broken heart, if HE gets all the pieces.
Mashallah, beautiful hikam which truly inspire.
subhaanAllaah, this came in my hour of need! Allaah is the Source of Strength!
I am glad some found this reworked Christian sound bites useful, though I think that deeper more meaningful thinking can be had by undertaking our duty to the Qur’an, reading it, reflecting upon it and striving to act upon it’s teachings.
I also advise those who find this stuff useful to reflect upon it more conservatively and actually think about some of the connotations which actually contradict or mislead us about our religion, something which is not a problem for the Christian audience the original piece was intended for.
I assume I will be castigated for being so negative, and I apologise for so frequently being so. However, the Qur’an an authentic sunnah is not merely enough for us, it is exactly the guidance we need. The above stuff is only acceptable if it is in conformity with the Qur’an and sunnah anyway so why take the route of man made sayings when the Creator’s words are more beautiful and more in conformity with our needs. To be safe one should find evidences for all the positions stated above within the sources of Islam, after of course understanding what these phrases both mean and imply. It is one of the characteristics of the Christians to start a thought and to leave it suspended in support of their claim without following it through to its logical conclusion. The trinity is a most stark example of this. Let us not be guilty of the same errors.
‘Allah mightily uses Muslims who stay cool in a hot place, sweet in a sour place and little in a big place.’ But this is not the case, for we adapt to situations according to their need and our ability. Sometimes Muslims are required to be ‘hot’ sometimes cool, we do not turn the other cheek and settle as Christians do. We stand up and be counted, sometimes with our hands, our tongues or at least with our hearts. We need not always be sweet we sometimes should be sour, we are the middle nation and not at the extremes of either overzealousness nor laxity. We do not take such polarised positions. Besides, does Allah really use Muslims in this way?
Is it really acceptable to say this, for example, ‘It is wonderful what Allah can do with a broken heart, if HE gets all the pieces.’ What does this say about Allah, that He is unable to get all the pieces of a heart? I find this disgraceful.
Why can’t a person both worry and trust, this contradicts human nature and indeed what does this say about the Prophet (SAW) when he worried about the situation with, say, A’ishah and the Ifk? Did he (SAW) not both worry yet trust? When fighting at Uhud, did the Prophet (SAW) not worry? Did he (SAW) also trust in Allah? Subhan Allah, we must examine more closely not only the apparent content of such messages but there implications also. It is not sufficient that we change some words to ‘Islamify’ such statements; this trend really must stop as it is like a plague across so many message groups all the while the pure unadulterated messages of the Qur’an and Sunnah are nowhere in sight, la hawla wa la quwatta illa billah.
‘Faith is not shelter from difficulties, but belief in the face of all contridiction.’ [sic] Faith is indeed shelter from difficulties and Muslims do not believe in the face of contradiction; this is the trait of the Christians almost exactly! Is the religion of Islam a mess of contradictions in which we blindly believe regardless? (The notions of faith and belief are two separate concepts anyway, and should not be used interchangeably. If one simply means ‘iman’ then keep the same word for both parts of the phrase. Is this a definition of ‘iman’ either technically or in practice?) Surely this is a form of misguidance and draws us into triviality. Please think about these things before posting them, please refer to the innumerable lessons in the Qur’an and sunnah, for as Muslims they are the sources of our guidance, and it is to Allah I complain and it is to Him I ask for guidance for us all.
Ya Aba Layth,
I think you have unnecessarily misconstrued a lot of what has been written.
And if some of your points are correct, I’m sure you can put them across in a more appropriate way. To nab someone’s phrase,
‘People have a way of becoming what you encourage them to be, not what you nag them to be’.
No-one’s saying don’t have an opinion, just put it across in a way that people can use to improve themselves.
I totally agree with Bro, it seems that Abu Layth has managed to take everything out of context. These wisdoms do not oppose the Quran and sunnah, and can be put in the context of the Quran and sunnah. For example,’‘Allah mightily uses Muslims who stay cool in a hot place, sweet in a sour place and little in a big place.’ But this is not the case, for we adapt to situations according to their need and our ability’, I believe the sister didn’t say otherwise. The saying itself can be taken in any way you like - I for one thought of a scholar who Allah guides to be calm when others are heated, content when all others are looking form something, and humble when given position.
As I said, they can be taken in any way you want, which shows the ’sour place’ Aby Layth is in at the moment!
