Innā lillāhi wa innā ilayhi rājiʿūn. Indeed, to Allāh we belong, and to Him we are returning.

The Islam21c team would like to extend their sincerest condolences to Shaykh Dr Muhammad Salah (and his family) whose father has passed away to meet his Lord (subḥānahu wa taʿālā), after succumbing to the coronavirus disease (COVID-19). May Allāh have mercy upon him.

This is surely a difficult time for the family and their loved ones. Losing a parent is to lose a teacher, a supporter, a friend and a person’s connection to the past.

Allāh (subḥānahu wa taʿālā) declares,

“Wherever you are, death will overtake you, even if you be in lofty towers.”[1]

“Everyone shall taste death. And only on the Day of Resurrection shall you be paid your wages in full. And whoever is removed away from the Fire and admitted to Paradise, he indeed is successful. The life of this world is only the enjoyment of deception.”[2]

Death is a certainty of life, indeed life itself is a test; man shall die and be questioned. It is in this sense that Allāh informs humans by way of counsel and encouragement that it is only the believers who are successful, those who avoid the fire and secure admittance into paradise. When a believer dies it is a time of great tragedy and loss for the community, but those who submit to the will of Allāh pay heed to what has been revealed,

“And certainly, We shall test you with something of fear, hunger, loss of wealth, lives and fruits, but give glad tidings to the patient; those who when afflicted with calamity, say: from Allāh do we come, and to Him we shall return.”[3]

Shaykh Dr Muhammad Salah is widely recognised as the presenter of Ask Huda, a well-known Fatawa program that broadcasts on Huda TV, one of the world’s leading Islamic Channels broadcasting exclusively in English. In addition, the Shaykh has over 1500 live and recorded broadcasting hours on Egyptian, Arabic and American television stations.

Following the death of his father, the official Facebook page of Shaykh Dr Muhammad Salah posted:

“It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we bring to you the sad news of the passing of the father of our dear Shaykh, an hour ago.”

“O Allah, our father Salah Omar is under Your safety, protection, and seeking Your forgiveness. Make him firm during the questioning and examination in the grave and save him from the torment of the Fire. Indeed, You do not break Your promise and You are worthy of truth. O Allah, forgive him and be merciful to him. You are Oft-Forgiving of sins and Most Merciful by accepting acts of obedience and multiplying rewards.”

We pray that Allah (subḥānahu wa taʿālā) grants patience and strength to all of his family. May Allah (subḥānahu wa taʿālā) have mercy on him, forgive him and elevate his ranks in Jannah, Amīn. We also ask Allāh (subḥānahu wa taʿālā) to make this difficult time an expiation of sins and the raising of rank in the sight of our Lord.
