Islam21c can confirm that ‘Eid al-Fitr 1438 will be on Sunday – corresponding to 25th June 2017 – based on multiple eye-witness testimonies. As the majority of Muslims in the UK follow Saudi Arabia in starting and ending Ramadan tomorrow will be the day of Eid. The declaration from the Saudi Supreme Court is expected shortly.

It was narrated from ‘Abd-Allaah ibn ‘Umar (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “The month is twenty-nine days, so do not fast until you see it, and if it is cloudy then complete the month as thirty days.”

Based on this narration, since, the moon of 1st of Shawwal 1438 has been sighted tonight, we will end the month of Ramadan 1438 on Saturday at Maghrib and celebrate ‘Eid al-Fitr on Sunday In sha Allah.

Zakat al-Fitr is a small donation that is to be given before the ‘Eid salah. If you have not paid Zakat al-Fitr for any members of your family please do so here

Moon sighting is a tradition from the numerous traditions of Prophet (ﷺ) that has been closely adhered to by the Muslims for over 1400 years. For more information on moon sighting and fasting times in Europe, please check out the video below. The video’s description has lecture notes with approximate timestamps.
