Islamophobia Awareness Month is a month-long campaign held every November that aims to raise awareness of Islamophobia and showcase the positive contributions of Muslims in society. Its vision is to see a society free from Islamophobia in all its forms, and a campaign widely recognised and supported every year.
This year’s IAM trailer
The theme for 2023 is #muslimstories
The goal of this year’s campaign is to facilitate connections among individuals from diverse backgrounds, including both Muslims and non-Muslims, using the transformative power of storytelling. So get involved now and share your story!
Home Office statistics show that in England and Wales, between 2022 and 2023, 44 per cent of religious hate crimes were targeted at people perceived as Muslim.
Islamophobia continues to be a problem in society, and IAM is therefore an unfortunate necessity.
Analysis
ANALYSIS
Islamophobia Awareness Month is one of the most important events in the British Muslim calendar; this year is no different and arguably even more critical due to the ongoing genocide against the Palestinians.
Running since 2012, IAM has continued to call for the recognition of Muslim success in all areas of society, in addition to championing the fight against Islamophobia.
We, at Islam21c, join dozens of other Muslim and non-Muslim organisations in supporting IAM and pray that its ongoing efforts continue to have a positive impact on Muslims and wider society, be that in the UK or farther afield.
