In a major development that will push back against the current batch of news outlets that unsurprisingly do not place Islamic thinking at the forefront, a new media outlet is launching tomorrow in Johannesburg, South Africa, with precisely that in mind.

One Nation Media (ONM), steered by Executive Editor Dilly Hussain — a veteran of the Muslim news sector and co-founder of 5Pillars — is set to begin operations on Friday, with a clear mandate to “challenge dominant narratives and reassert Islam as a comprehensive framework for understanding and shaping the modern world.”

Equipping Muslims for what’s to come

In a press release marking the occasion, Dilly Hussain said,

One Nation Media is not here to fit into the existing media landscape. It is here to challenge it. Our aim is simple: to provide clarity, confront false narratives, and equip Muslims to engage global affairs with conviction, confidence and purpose.”

The outlet also states that it will focus on the digital space, while the wording also potentially leaves room for offline productions in the future.

As a digital-first platform, ONM will produce a range of content including current affairs debate shows, in-depth video explainers, podcasts, short films, documentaries and breaking news. Its coverage will span the African continent and the wider Muslim-majority world, alongside key global flashpoints, delivering analysis with depth and clarity.

In a media environment shaped by ideological bias and the marginalisation of Islamic perspectives, ONM intervenes directly — shaping narratives, challenging falsehoods and exposing the failures of dominant political systems and ideological frameworks.

“An amazing initiative”

Dr. Salman Butt, Head of Islamic Thought at Islam21c, shared the following words of encouragement for ONM:

This is an amazing initiative that we are very excited about.

Particularly in an age of industrialised disinformation, this new platform will be one more arrow in the quiver of the Ummah in order to spread truth.

Whilst the likes of the Epstein class spend billions on separating people from reality, it is thankfully much cheaper to spread truth than maintain falsehood — like a small candle is able to light an entire dark room.

We should all join and support this effort with our du’ā, financial, and networking resources.”
