According to the Turkish health minister, the citizen who is originally Turkish has been sent an ambulance after being denied treatment in Sweden following a positive test for the coronavirus.

Dr Fahrettin Koca ordered an ambulance airplane to bring back Emrullah Gülüşken, 47, and his four children to Turkey from Malmo. [2]

Sevgili Leyla, sesini duyduk. Ambulans uçağımız saat 06'da havalanıyor, İsveç’e geliyoruz. Tüm Türkiye, böyle bir dönemde, uzakta olmanıza üzüldük. Baban için hastanemiz, hekimlerimiz hazır. Cumhurbaşkanımızın, bütün halkımızın geçmiş olsun dileklerini iletiyorum. Çok sevgiler. pic.twitter.com/y4vUOQMGNl

In a tweet, Dr Koca said that the hospitals and doctors in Turkey are ready to treat her father.

“Dear Leyla, we heard your voice. Our ambulance airplane is taking off at 6am and we’re coming to Sweden,”

The health minister also extended well wishes from Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and the Turkish people to Gülüşken’s daughter, who sought the country’s help to save her father.

Gülüşken’s daughter, Samira, said after her father experienced fever and shortness of breath, she called hospitals however she would not receive a return call.

She told Anadolu Agency:

“After a doctor came home and checked my father, he called the ambulance and asked to be taken to the hospital. After being hospitalised, he was diagnosed with the COVID-19. Despite this, they sent my father back home.” [3]

After losing hope from the hospitals in Sweden, Samira turned to social media where she shared a video about her father’s condition and pleaded for help.

As the world continues to react to the growing coronavirus pandemic, Turkey stands out as a shining example and model for many others in the fight against the deadly virus.

Turkey has taken strong measures to prevent the spread of the coronavirus outbreak through its solid public health system coupled with generous social assistance and aid schemes, both nationally and globally. Further to this, the large number of hospitals and intensive care units per person is one of the most effective assets that Turkey possesses. [4]

Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, launched a ‘National Solidarity Campaign’ in the fight against the coronavirus, with the president himself donating seven months of his personal salary. [5] Cabinet members in the government and lawmakers have also donated 5.2 million Turkish liras ($791,000) towards the campaign.

Setting an example to the entire world, Turkey was quick to declare economic support packages, monthly pension payments, and shelter for the homeless.

In light of the deadly pandemic, Turkey has also delivered medical aid to several countries including the United Kingdom, Spain, Italy, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, North Macedonia, and Kosovo. [6]

The deadly coronavirus was first detected in Wuhan, China in December, but is now prevalent in 210 countries and territories around the world as well as 2 international conveyances.

At the time of writing, there are over 2.9 million registered coronavirus cases worldwide, with more than 203,000 deaths. [7]

Indeed we belong to Allāh, and to Him we shall return. We ask Allāh (subḥānahu wa taʿālā) to keep us all safe, healthy, and able to take this opportunity to turn back to Him, seeking forgiveness. May Allāh (subḥānahu wa taʿālā) cure our sick, protect our elderly, and accept those that have returned to him after having the coronavirus as martyrs, āmīn.

It is also important to note that over 841,000 people have recovered so far from the deadly virus, alhamdulillāh.

May Allāh (subḥānahu wa taʿālā) protect us all and allow a cure to be found for this and all other diseases.
