We sat down with Ustadh Yusuf Ponders, a dedicated researcher and manager at Sapience Institute’s Lighthouse Mentoring Project. He shares his experiences and the invaluable services provided by the project, which supports anyone in navigating and resolving their doubts and specious arguments concerning Islam.

Yusuf discusses the typical profile of those seeking help, the nature of doubts they face, and how these doubts are often rooted in a lack of understanding or misinformation. He emphasises the importance of addressing each individual’s unique needs with compassion and maturity.

Yusuf is a researcher and Sapience Institute’s Lighthouse Mentoring manager. He has a 1st class B.A. in Philosophy. His focus has mainly been on Nihilism and the meaning of life, for which he wrote a dissertation and made many videos discussing this subject. He runs a Youtube channel called “Pondering Soul”, which focuses on Philosophy and Theology. He is also a co-host on the up-and-coming Youtube channel “Thought Adventure Podcast”, as well as regularly featuring on many other da’wah channels. Yusuf embraced Islam in 2014 and has since studied Islam formerly with a qualified shaykh. He hopes to continue these studies alongside his studies in Philosophy.

Dr. Butt studied Biochemistry at Imperial College London, followed by a PhD in Chemical Biology, carrying out research into photosynthesis. During his years at university, he became involved in Islamic society da'wah and activism, and general Muslim community projects.
