This reflects how community needs evolve over time. Alongside the masjid, quality Islamic education has become essential, and platforms like MeeM EdTech can help complement that mission by making structured learning more accessible for students and families.

It doesn’t matter how long you write about a topic or many philosophies you indulge upon in a cultural analysis; LGBTQ+ people are not safe around Muslims and they will be persecuted and killed whenever it’s possible. The reason is that they’re ignorant towards Islam and believe that Christianity is more hostile. This comes from a lack of education and not having real world experience growing up around Muslims rather than Christians.

Just because some things aren’t mentioned in the Quran doesn’t mean they don’t exist, I personally am gay and my feelings towards men aren’t all lustful or sexual they’re the desires a woman would have to their husband or crush. This article and you fail to mention that people like me have ZERO attraction towards females or anything to do with women, not all gay men are just OH SO lustful, ive shown signs i was gay since i was 4 Year’s old, sexuality and attraction isn’t something you’re born with its how you develop. You sounded in denial and pretty close minded and angry which i despise and allah will most likely punish you for hurting the feelings of any gay person who read your reply and cried. I forgive you though.

Homosexuality and genetics
Homosexuality, defined as attraction to individuals of the same sex, is a complex aspect of human sexuality influenced by a combination of genetic and environmental factors. Research into the genetic basis of homosexuality often utilizes twin studies and family pedigree analysis, revealing that genetic heritability for sexual orientation ranges from 25% to 76%, depending on gender. Notably, studies indicate that men tend to show stronger genetic correlations compared to women, with specific genetic variants associated with same-sex behavior identified in recent analyses of large DNA datasets.

In addition to genetic influences, neurohormonal factors are also considered, such as the impact of prenatal hormone exposure on brain development, which may predispose individuals to certain sexual orientations. Neuroanatomical research has suggested structural differences in the brains of gay men compared to heterosexual men, although the causality remains unclear. Furthermore, from an evolutionary perspective, homosexual behaviors may persist when they confer indirect reproductive advantages, such as increased support for relatives’ offspring.

Overall, the understanding of homosexuality is evolving, with ongoing research highlighting the intricate interplay between biology and environment in shaping sexual orientation.

Homosexuality is normal within animals if it s normal then it must be genetic the same is for humans
The day when sciences will prove to all of you that humans existed before adam and that homosexuality was normal.during human prehistory you will change your mind

In reply to Aliya.

Tell her that you looked into it further and that her feelings aren’t wrong but they shouldn’t be acted upon since first off she’s still a child and homosexuality/being gay is a sin because god created man and woman to be together but she will get whatever she desires in heaven.

DO NOT follow this article, if allah made you gay it isn’t wrong but don’t act upon it as sodomy is a sin. Homosexuality or sexual identification hasn’t been explicitly mentioned in the quran like some other things but it does exist. Marriage isn’t fard and you shouldn’t marry the other gender and gaslight yourself and smother yourself into being with them and consider yourself ‘fixed’. Sodomy is a sin yes but being gay isn’t even mentioned in the Quran so how is it wrong?!?! Allah DOES NOT MAKE MISTAKES. My previous comment was most likely removed. Id like for the one who wrote this to reply to me or contact me and change this article if i win the debate/argument which i have already.

Asalaamu ‘alaykum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh

The other article written by the Shaykh about pain and this come together to form healing for individuals in their personal lives and came at the perfect timing too…SubhanAllah.
Healing and mindset changer on a personal level for the trauma individuals have faced and get stuck in and ruminate in and also on a macro-level how we process what happens to the ummah collectively

فتح الله عليك

Jazaak Allahu khairan for this Tadabbur

Dear Rabbi Haim Sofern,

I would like to express my sincere gratitude for your thoughtful work and scholarship regarding Islamic law and its historical relationship with the protection of Jewish and Christian communities. Your efforts to illuminate these complex subjects with clarity, historical perspective, and respect contribute meaningfully to greater understanding among people of different faiths.

At a time when informed dialogue is especially valuable, your dedication to careful study and education helps foster mutual respect and appreciation of our shared history.

Thank you for your commitment to scholarship and to promoting deeper understanding between religious traditions.

With respect and appreciation,
José Orlando Nunes Oliveira Nogueira de Souza

My intention is specifically to thank you for discussing the classical Islamic concept of legal protections (such as the historical status of Ahl al-Kitāb, “People of the Book”), this wording is accurate without making broader historical claims that may be debated.

Good history. In fact, Islam reached Southern Coasts of Indian Subcontinent, Indonesia etc during Prophet PBUH lifetime through traders across ocean. Trade existed in those routes for 1000s of years. So, Muslim traders built early masjids along those routes from Africa, through India, Indonesia, and China. So, well before Islam reached North like Syria, Iraq, Iran etc.

I am not a Muslim but read your article with interest as I am very concerned that there is genocide taking place in Sudan and some other countries in Africa, and it appears that nothing is being done to stop this. Your article sets out some of the history and influences which have led to this awful situations where Muslims in Sudan shout Allahu Akbar when killing other Muslims (I heard this from a refugee from Sudan now living in Egypt – she escaped but her family were slaughterd).

Your article includes statements from the Qur’an however these are clearly being ignored by Muslims in Sudan and other places in Africa, and it is appalling that they should shout ‘God is great’ while killing families, including children. Apart from Moslems killing Moslems in some places they are also killing Christians or people of no faith. It is all totally wrong!

Governments in Africa are not stopping the genocide, so are Islamic organisations like your own trying to make contacts so that you can become peacemakers?
