I am not a Muslim but read your article with interest as I am very concerned that there is genocide taking place in Sudan and some other countries in Africa, and it appears that nothing is being done to stop this. Your article sets out some of the history and influences which have led to this awful situations where Muslims in Sudan shout Allahu Akbar when killing other Muslims (I heard this from a refugee from Sudan now living in Egypt – she escaped but her family were slaughterd).

Your article includes statements from the Qur’an however these are clearly being ignored by Muslims in Sudan and other places in Africa, and it is appalling that they should shout ‘God is great’ while killing families, including children. Apart from Moslems killing Moslems in some places they are also killing Christians or people of no faith. It is all totally wrong!

Governments in Africa are not stopping the genocide, so are Islamic organisations like your own trying to make contacts so that you can become peacemakers?

Zack Polanski did not claim breasts were enhanced with hypnosis … He was told to say it and he regrets it … There is a difference between being told to say something and actually saying it as a belief. He is openly a gay man and so he’s not interested in enhancing any woman’s breasts with hypnosis as he’s not interested in women.

Your are right about Liberal Democrats and Ed Davey is a good politician who speaks up on matters that are important.

The problem with UK politics today is that MPs do not care about the British people regardless of their culture because each of the 650 MPs get £98,000 salary paid by the Taxpayer. They also claim off the Taxpayer the cost of their Council Tax, but those who are hard working who get lesser salary have to pay it and that is unfairness. The MPs do not care about the realities of life for people such as the cost of living crisis as it doesn’t affect them and they did not go into politics to help the hard working people, the unemployed, the ones living in poverty, the old and the disabled … They went into politics as they are self seeking people and wanting to get their £98,000 salary and get the Taxpayer to pay their Council Tax and their heating cost and many other perks and that is what is wrong with the UK politics today as it attracts people who only care about their own ambitions and money they can make as its about greed not concern about the British people.

I performed Hajj with Amanah Tours in 2014. Sheikh Haitham allowed people to cut their hair and get out of the state of ihram before we got confirmation of qurbani.

– Mature politically as a COMMUNITY, wider society and not JUST Muslims and think strategically. Vital

-much of our day to day lives are shaped far more by local politics than people realise

– Communities establish influence
We will have to mobilise all the time and not JUST when we are not happy or disagree with something nationally or internationally

– of paramount importance acknowledgement of the good work that has been done by the councillor/council.

– the responsibility of the Muslim is given emphasis. If an issue does not affect you at the moment it could or will later on and as a community all of that has to be taken into consideration.

It is easily said ‘im too busy…I don’t have the time..’ joint responsibility comes in/brotherhood

We’ll have the time for the break and holiday but will not prioritise this essential joint societal need.
Same with if something not being done and attended to, should be held to account – councillor in question but not too nit pick if did try hard.

-agree totally, not just merely symbolic representatives but serious public servant

The article states: If your mother carried you in her womb for nine months, your father has carried you, your siblings, and mother for years on end. If your mother brought you into this world, then your father is the one who spends his life bringing the world to you. If your mother rushes to catch you when you fall, your father is the one who teaches you how to stand back up and not fall again.

This is not always the case. Most women make better parents to their children than the father does. The mothers spend more time with a child than a father does if he’s working and so they help more than the father in the development of children as they grow. When a child is not feeling well they want their mother more than the father because the difference is they want someone who spent more time with them than the father in the early years. This makes a child want their mother when they are not feeling well as they had spent more time with the mother than the father in the early years when growing up. It is often the mother that brings out the creative side of a child than the father because a woman is more visible as a parent to children than the father if he’s working in the day.

A woman carries the child for nine months and that makes the child different to her own partner and that bond is important to have between mother and her children. Its a bond that is stronger than the woman’s bond with her husband because children are given unconditional love by the mother and the father, but the relationship between parents is conditional, so a woman’s bond with her husband and children are very different. If a man who has fathered children happens to die, the mother is then the only parent. She does not need to give the children a stepfather as a woman is capable of bringing up children herself and that often can happen and those children are not worse off for it.

Most children grow up closer to the mother than the father because they get more affection at times from a mother because of that maternal instinct and a man has a paternal instinct, but its the maternal instinct that is often the stronger bond between a child and its mother than the father.

“if your father leaves this world, that door to Jannah is closed” . This article is heartbreaking because even those who pretend they are doing enough for their fathers, they still so far away from what they should do. This is is indeed a huge gap in the Arab culture. May Allah reward our Sheikh for this awakening reminder.

I don’t think the main problems the Muslim community is facing can be solved at the local council level, but rather national policy.

For example, Islamophobia is facilitated at the national level, so our main strategic objective should be developing real influence nationally.

Local politics therefore should be seen as a means to develop our capacity for political organisation so we can succeed nationally, especially in the upcoming 2029 general election which will be critical for the safety of British Muslims.

‘..despondency has never been the Islamic response to difficulty ..Daawood alayhis salaam with Jaaloot/Goliath…the battle ofBadr..
Our history replete with examples
A very beneficial read that does need determined action to be put into fruition.
– Communicate across communities
– Earn public trust
– Focus on issues that affect society as a whole
economy, housing jobs NHS
‘benefit society as a whole’ – absolutely vital
We did it – for instance in Andalus – and we can still do it.
(Mamdani and New York just popped up)
I was thinking, more of the future yet and what we can do as a community.
