Doha bombing has only exposed Israel’s war on peace

Israel has no desire to coexist with Muslims; will its attack on Qatar mark a turning point for Muslim nations?

Doha bombing has only exposed Israel’s war on peace

In the name of Allah, may His peace and blessings be upon His final Messenger, Muhammad, his family, and his companions.

Israel’s bombing of Doha — the Qatari capital and its largest city — on Tuesday 16 Rabbi al-Awwal 1447 / 9 September 2025 and the targeting of the Palestinian negotiating delegation carries several important messages and implications. [1]

Dominance through terror

The most important point is that Israel seeks only to impose dominance through terrorism.

Therefore, it is totally absurd, stupid even, to imagine that Israel seeks to peacefully coexist with its Arab and Muslim nations!

Throughout history Jews have lived and flourished among Muslims. However, Allah (‘azza wa jal) warns about some that tried to spread falsehood and discord between people:

And the Jews say, ‘The hand of Allah is chained.’ Chained are their hands, and cursed are they for what they say.

Rather, both His hands are extended; He spends however He wills. And that which has been revealed to you from your Lord will surely increase many of them in transgression and disbelief.

And We have cast among them animosity and hatred until the Day of Resurrection. Every time they kindled the fire of war [against you], Allah extinguished it. And they strive throughout the land [causing] corruption, and Allah does not like corrupters.” [2]

The rulers of the US and UK cannot be trusted

The American and British support (direct and indirect) for this terrorist act confirms that they are the main supporters of international terrorism. As a result, they cannot be trusted, either as superpowers or major players for global peace and stability.

Muslims should know who their enemies are, and that these parties will never cease fighting the Muslims.

Indeed, Allah (subḥānahu wa ta’āla) commands us to know the methods of our opponents:

And thus do We detail the verses, and [thus] the way of the criminals will become evident.” [3]

Relationship with China and Russia needs review

The unlimited US support provided to Israel is strengthening the emerging geopolitical bloc centred around China and Russia — an axis against American influence.

Increasingly, countries around the world are beginning to question whether the US is a reliable strategic ally. Many now see that America is willing to abandon its partners or sacrifice long-standing alliances for its own short-term interests — or more specifically, the political interests of administrations like that of Donald Trump.

Indeed, Europe seems to have already reached this conclusion. After witnessing the US gradually step back from supporting Ukraine in its war against Russia, while simultaneously signing deals with Russia, many European nations feel exposed.

Similarly, Gulf countries are now seeing America turn a blind eye as Israel openly humiliates or even targets them. This must serve as a wake-up call — one that we hope pushes them to seek stronger and more balanced alliances, potentially with China, or even reconsidering relationships with powers like Russia.

Islamic nations need a collective strategy

We have just seen evidence that American weapons did not — and will not — protect an Arab Muslim country that spent billions of dollars to acquire them.

Their true role is to ensure Zionist state superiority in the Middle East, and to boost the sale of American weapons.

The real question is: hasn’t the time come for Arab and Islamic countries to begin taking practical steps to come out of the state of humiliation they put themselves in?

They can easily adopt a collective and effective strategy for national security. Unity is key in this strategy.

Allah (subḥānahu wa ta’āla) says,

And hold firmly to the rope of Allah altogether and do not be divided.” [4]

They can also adopt an integrated and/or intra-state system in order to reform their individual country and their collective of countries.

Allah (jalla wa ‘ala) says,

And prepare against them whatever you are able of power and of steeds of war by which you may terrify the enemy of Allah and your enemy and others besides them whom you do not know [but] whom Allah knows.” [5]

A collective strategy that deals with the Zionist state may include:

  • Halting all forms of political and economic normalisation.
  • Starting to withdraw investments from countries supporting Israeli aggression (such as US Treasury bonds).
  • Redirecting Muslim and Arab wealth toward productive projects within Islamic countries and promoting self-sufficiency.

Power is the only path to peace

It is hoped that both Arabs and Muslims wake up and realise the reality of this life. It is not about peace, rather it is about power.

Whether we like it or or not, power is the only path to peace. It is sad that Americans are proud to imbue this while Arab and Muslim leaders remain in a state of denial.

As ever, the solution for all these problems lies in simply going back to Allah and His Messenger ﷺ.

Allah (jalla wa ‘ala) says,

O you who have believed, if you support Allah, He will support you and plant firmly your feet.” [6]

Shaykh Dr. Haitham al-Haddad is a jurist who seeks to contextualise classical Islamic knowledge for the modern era. He is a firm believer that Islam is uniquely qualified — more than any other system — to build a divine civilisation capable of helping humanity to enjoy a better life in all spheres by maintaining the correct balance between the rights of the Creator and the rights of the creation. He believes Islam is the only viable alternative to the failing unjust and oppressive contemporary world systems, as Allah says: "You are the best nation produced [as an example] for mankind: you enjoin what is right, forbid what is wrong, and believe in Allah." (al-Qur'ān, 3:110) According to this verse, Shaykh Haitham identifies the pillars of Islamic reform as īmān (faith), unity of the Ummah, impactful action, and knowledge. Drawing from his expertise in Islamic principles — Usūl al-Fiqh, Maqāsid al-Sharī‘ah, ‘Aqīdah, and other Islamic sciences — he promotes these foundational pillars to guide the Ummah’s revival. He is known for developing advanced theories that explore the role of Islamic jurisprudence in obtaining solutions for the contemporary challenges facing humanity, and he critically re-evaluates how Islamic legal rulings (fatāwa) can be formulated in light of modern sociopolitical realities. Shaykh Dr. Haitham al-Haddad earned his PhD from SOAS, University of London, with a doctoral thesis on Islamic jurisprudence concerning Muslim minorities. He also holds a bachelor’s degree in Sharī‘ah and Law from the University of Omdurman, Sudan, and a degree in engineering from the renowned King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM) in Saudi Arabia. He has undertaken intensive studies in management, becoming a certified ISO 9000 auditor. In addition, he has studied various Islamic sciences under leading scholars of the Muslim world, including the former Grand Mufti of Saudi Arabia, Shaykh ‘Abdul-‘Aziz ibn Baz, among many others. He has obtained many classical ijāzāt in various Islamic sciences, including Qur'ān and Hadīth. Shaykh Haitham has served as an Islamic judge for several UK-based arbitration and legal bodies for over 20 years; he is a judge at Islamic Council. He has delivered hundreds of courses on topics such as Fiqh, ‘Aqīdah, Usūl al-Fiqh, Maqāsid al-Sharī‘ah, Tafsīr, Sīrah, Islamic Thought, Islamic Leadership and Management, Da'wah, Reform, and Political Engagement. Shaykh Haitham has also submitted many academic papers in many universities around the world. He is frequently consulted by numerous Islamic organisations across Europe and beyond, and serves as a senior scholar at Islam21c. Shaykh Haitham has lectured in various universities around the Muslim world, provided counsel to Islamic institutions, authored several books and textbooks for different institutions, and travelled extensively to advocate for the reform and unity of the Ummah.
