It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Dr. Muhammad Naim Yasin, a highly respected and beloved Islamic scholar and professor of Islamic Studies and Comparative Jurisprudence.
The professor was born on June 11, 1943 in Salfit, Palestine, during the British Mandate. He received his school education in Salfit and Nablus, before enrolling in the University of Damascus, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in Sharia in 1964 and a bachelor’s degree in law in 1965.
Dr. Yasin continued his studies and obtained a master’s degree in Islamic law from al-Azhar University in 1968, as well as a master’s degree in law from Cairo University in the same year. In 1972, he received his doctorate in Islamic law from al-Azhar University.
Throughout his distinguished academic career, Dr. Yasin served as a professor at several institutions, including the University of Jordan, Kuwait University, Qatar University, and the International Islamic Sciences University.
In addition to his work as a professor, he also held several administrative positions, including serving as the head of the Department of Jurisprudence and Legislation at the University of Jordan, the head of the Comparative Jurisprudence Department at Kuwait University, and the head of the Law Department at the International Islamic Sciences University, Jordan.
Dr. Yasin was an active member of numerous institutions, universities, and scientific committees, including the Jordanian Ifta Council, the Committee for the Establishment of the College of Sharia at Kuwait University, the Kuwaiti Ministry of Awqaf and Justice, Qatar University, the University of Jordan, the University of Applied Sciences in Jordan, the College of Islamic and Arabic Studies in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates University, and the International Islamic Science University.
In addition to his work as a professor, Dr. Yasin also made significant contributions to the field through his numerous publications and authored several books that have benefited students and those interested in Islamic culture.
Dr. Muhammad Naim Yasin will be remembered for his tireless commitment to education and his unwavering dedication to sharing Islamic knowledge with others. May Allah forgive his sins and bless him with a dwelling in the highest stations of Paradise.
